A couple of days left until NLVMUG14

In a couple of days it is time for the Virtualization event in the Netherlands: the NLVMUG Conference 2014! Hosted in the beautiful “1931” in Den Bosch, this is the event for VMware enthusiasts in the Netherlands.
To all who are going this year, I hope you have an amazing time as well. And those who saw the line-up, know they will… At least I know, I will. Although I’m part of the organizing committee know as the “Customer Council”, I would like to share some of the great presentations given on this event.

vCenter Operations and the Quest for the Missing Metrics
This list wouldn’t  be complete if mr. Sloof wasn’t on it. The godfather of the #vMaffia teams up with Duco Jaspers to learn how to monitor the performance of your enterprise to diagnose and prevent problems using vCenter Operations. This is one of the presentations which was a big hit on VMworld, so if you missed it there, you should attend this one.

VCAP Bootcamp
One of the most interesting things (at least for educational purposes) we could arrange was a real bootcamp on the VCAP certification. Joep Piscaer and Martijn Baecke will guide you through the three routes you can follow to prepare yourself for the VCAP certification. These are Datacenter (DCD), Cloud (CID) and Desktop (DTD). Reservation is mandatory via bootcamp@nlvmug.com

Geordy Korte of VMware will speak about the ins and outs of VMware’s newest member NSX. This virtual form of Networking is a big part of the Software Defined DataCenter strategy of VMware. Similar to a virtual machine for compute, a virtualized network is a fully functional network in a software container, provisioned independent of underlying hardware or topology.

vCAC6.0 Unleased
Viktor van den Berg and Arnim van Lieshout will host a session about VMware Cloud Automation Center. With VCAC you can improve your Self-Service, Application Deployment or Cloud management. In the afternoon there is also a customer example hosted by Willem van Engeland.

Last but not a least William van Collenburg of VMware will host a session about VSAN. VSAN (which will be GA on the 6th of March) is VMware’s solution in the SDDC strategy for Storage.
